The oil-based petrolatum anti-corrosion tape system is a truly non-toxic, non-volatile component-free system with excellent anti-corrosion properties. It was originally invented specifically for the external corrosion protection of steel piles and cement piles in seawater, but has now been widely used for the long-term corrosion protection of various equipment in harsh atmospheric, underground and underwater environments.
The system can be molded into any shape due to its excellent plasticity and flexibility. Therefore, it is suitable for the corrosion protection and maintenance of equipment of any shape, such as flanges, valves and other pipe fittings, as well as corrosion protection after emergency repairs. For example, it is suitable for a large number of valves, flanges, tees, condensate cylinders, underground storage tanks, vertical tanks, pipelines, equipment, steel structures, steel piles in seawater, and socket joints of cast iron pipes in the oil, gas, water, petrochemical industries, various stations and factories, shipbuilding, ship repair and other industries. The system includes four parts: sealing ointment (petrolatum primer), sealing putty (petrolatum mastic), oily petrolatum tape, and PVC outer protective tape. This combined system, based on the anti-corrosion mechanism of its main component - oily mineral grease, which is hydrophobic and non-hydrophilic, forms several continuous layers of grease waterproof sealing layers on the surface of the workpiece. The equipment is always under the protection of a very thick grease sealing film. The flexible characteristics of the oil film layer, which does not fall off, age, solidify or crack, enable the system to adapt to the thermal expansion and contraction of the workpiece and provide long-term sealing protection for the workpiece. Water vapor cannot penetrate at all, and the effect is more obvious in humid, underwater, seaside and buried environments.
The petrolatum anti-corrosion system uses saturated inert mineral esters as its main component. It is resistant to corrosion from inorganic acids, alkalis, and salt substances and has good electrical insulation properties. The construction of the mineral ester oily anti-corrosion tape system is very simple and easy, and it can be directly constructed in water, which is unmatched by any other anti-corrosion layer. This system does not contain any volatile components, is non-toxic and harmless, and meets various strict domestic and international environmental protection requirements.
